Chris Phillips was in the accounting field for 20+ years when she decided she no longer wanted to be in that line of work. At the age of 50 she went back to school to pursue her in Baking and Pastry Arts. She has studied under world-renowned Chef Casey Shiller and Chef Martin Lopez. She is a graduate of St. Louis Community College – Forest Park. She was awarded the Jack Perry Award (2019) in recognition of academic excellence, lifelong learning, and service to the hospitality industry.
Chef Phillips started her culinary journey creating delectable breakfast delights at a regional coffee chain. She then accepted a head chef position with a nationally recognized non-profit organization where she trained brain injury survivors the art of baking to help them gain skills to become successfully employed and independent.
Chef Phillips, along with her two daughters, have opened a wholesale and retail bakery, Perfectly Pastry, in St. Louis. One day the Perfectly Pastry team hopes to operate their own training facility and program focused on teaching underserved communities the skills of baking and pastry arts to obtain gainful employment in the hospitality industry.
When Chef Phillips is not in the kitchen whipping up new flavorful recipes, she loves spending time with her mother, sister, daughters and five grandchildren. She also loves to travel and experience the culinary delights in other countries.
